The Arab Golf Championship for Juniors and Ladies officially kicked off this evening with an opening ceremony hosted at Madinaty Golf Club in Cairo, Egypt. The event was attended by H.E. Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports, alongside officials from both the Egyptian and Arab Golf Federations, as well as representatives of participating delegations from across the Arab world.
During the ceremony Mr. Omar Hesham Talaat Mostafa, President of the Egyptian Golf Federation, expressed his delight at Egypt hosting this important Arab event, affirming that the championship represents a significant step in promoting golf across the Arab region and provides a valuable opportunity to nurture young male and female talents in a competitive and inspiring atmosphere.
He added that Egypt is home to more than 25 golf courses built to international standards, which qualifies it to become a regional and global hub for hosting major golf tournaments.
Minister of Youth and Sports Dr. Ashraf Sobhy also delivered a speech, welcoming guests from all Arab countries and highlighting Egypt’s ongoing efforts to develop the sport of golf locally and regionally. He praised the Arab Golf Federation’s role and efforts in advancing the sport.
In a statement on the occasion, Mr. Noah Alireza, Secretary General of the Arab Golf Federation, said:
“Today, we celebrate a championship that embodies the spirit of Arab competition and cooperation, as we mark fifty years of establishment and achievement. We believe the future of golf in the Arab world begins with supporting the younger generation. We look forward to a promising future led by our emerging talents and strengthened through our enduring partnerships across the region.”
This year’s championship features more than 110 male and female players representing 12 Arab countries. Official competitions will be held on May 8 and 9 at Katameya Dunes Club, with the event concluding with an awards ceremony on May 10 at Madinaty Golf Club.
On the sidelines of the tournament, a Golf Festival is being held to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Arab Golf Federation. The festival includes sports and entertainment performances designed to promote community engagement with golf and attract new audiences to this prestigious sport.
